Broken pieces
My heart shattered
And I walk on the shards of the fragments it left behind
As they cut up my skin
He follows behind picking up pieces
He’s trying to hold them all
As he balances bandages and duct tape
I wake up one morning to him sitting at my kitchen table
I walk across the floor
Feet still bleeding from broken promises
He looks down at my heart
All shards in place,
He’s put it together with a mess of silver
He smiles,
Looks into my eyes
And as if I were Cinderella, slides the bandages on my feet
And my heart into place
