Flightless Me
Try, try
Little bird
Lift off of the ground.
I have tried
My whole life
And you know what I’ve found?
It is difficult
To feel
The wind in your face.
It is perplexing
To find your place.
I cannot fly,
For I, it will be harder.
But you
Little bird
You can go farther.
Then,
When all is well,
I will find my calling.
When I am able
I will fly without falling.
For now, I sit,
Watching you up high,
Because for now
Little bird,
I cannot fly.
