i never really liked lemonade anyway
a rhyme a day keeps the sadness at bay
that’s what my therapist told me to say
he told me to keep my mind at ease
when your picture is taken, smile. say cheese.
he said to stay cheerful no matter the cost
without a soft smile everything will seem lost.
my mom read me the god awful dr. seuss books,
and told me “pay you no mind to the terrible looks.”
“when life gives you lemons, make lemonade,
no one want’s to see a child’s grin fade”
all these poems and rhymes got me to think
but i just cannot find that one missing link
i collect all my thoughts, but there is no light
there is only darkness, and it fills me with fright.
maybe it’s not so bad to be a little less sane,
after all, there's always a rainbow after there’s rain.
