Guiding Lights
Where do those neon signs lead?
The street like a river of people flowing between the banks.
Those lights, they call me to a place far from home.
Why do the signs seek to blind me?
Excitement swirls in the air,
filling my lungs with a need for
adventure.
Longing.
The cooking ddeokbokki worms its way into my nose,
the pounding bass vibrates in my ears.
Flowing down the river, I slip further into my dreams
only to be brought back by the sound of my Mother’s voice.
