water & alkali
their love was explosive:
when they touched, they
created fractured light,
and flew high in the aftermath
like hydrogen balloons.
each melted into the other’s arms,
and together they created
something new-
a metal shield to protect their entwined hearts.
their passion fizzed and frothed;
it was a spectacle to behold, their love,
a lilac flame against a world of night,
but in the end, they burned out.
