If wishes were kisses, which in my mind they are,
Then the first would be breath that smelled minty.

The ones that were strong and that lasted quite long
Would be wishes for long life and prosperity.

The ones given in patience would amount to vacations.
Those taken by force would give only remorse.

Any desperate latching would result in bar chatting and perhaps nights spent across town.

Kisses of love or given with hugs would ask for more family reunions.

Those on the nose, or eyelashes or toes would be for a baby again.

And all the goodbyes with tear drops in the eyes would beg for another small wish.

The ones before death would be soft and be loving and these would ask that heaven be there instead of nothing.

Finally the simple, the silly, the stolen the wish given and taken in stride would be for a kiss with that person you wish could actually truly be thine.
