Asleep
Sleeping peacefully,
My head resting on a pillow,
Dreaming as the moon's rays dance upon my face.
The pale light gives me strength and warmth.
A cloud passes in between us.
The rays die away,
Shadows now creep up on my vulnerable face.
And my dreams slowly turn rancid and stagnant.
Screams echo against my sleeping skull.
A banshee wails not far away.
Will this darkness stay?
The wind picks up,
Slowly at first.
The wind picks up,
And the cloud shifts,
Releasing the captive prisoner rays.
My depressive sleep fades
As the soft moonlight spreads across my face.
Peace now finds me again.
Peace fills me,
As I lay there,
Unknowing of the goings of the world.
