The Struggle
The world can change in an instant
our world changed within a blink of an eye
some days you just want to crawl up and die
This world is to hostile for me and my son
It is very tough because i don't want to hurt anyone
We are trying to go to the coast for warmer climate
but starvation is just bad timing
we would eventually find houses with tons of food
my son thinks taking it is just plain rude
Then i get him to understand that we need it
even though he doesn't agree to it
Along the way we bumped into cannibals
It's hard to believe people could be such animals
we have also met a thief
me and him were going to start some beef
but then my son told me just to let him be in peace
The next couple days i got wounded
the distance we usually traveled decreased
my son knew I was in pain
but my son was strong and didn't complain
to think I was going to make it
It was obvious what happened the next day
my son was devastated and didn't know what to say
I told him he will be alright, find the good guys
The hardest part was seeing the tears in his eyes
no...the hardest part was saying goodbye

I had finished reading a book called the road by: cormac mccarthy and decided to do a poem about the book as an assignment. I think this is my best work yet and with the support of an amazing teacher i decided to share it on Teenink. Please take a couple of minutes to vote... i would realy appreciate it.
