The Dog (The One About Everything)
You call me a b****,
but it seems that this dog
is happier than you have ever been.
As citizens of the universe,
You and I
have the right to agree to disagree,
You and I
have the will to act in opposite directions
You and I
may learn different and
You and I
may have been made different, but
You and I
are both people, living in the same world
You and I
are right here and
You and I
are right now
You and I
See,
that you’re chained down.
You see handcuffs of unimportance
And shackles of lacking
But I see handcuffs of self-hate
And shackles of want
And every time you take a step
Towards what you think
Will free you,
I see you wince
I see your chains tighten
I see your hands turn purple from lack of blood
I see your shoulders shake with the weight of the world
I see the pain in your face
I see the struggle in your eyes
But maybe that’s just what life looks like
Through the eyes of a dog.
