Words are elements of speech or writing
Words are used to form sentences
Words are used in sentences to argue or persuade
But did you know words are used to hurt and harm

Sticks and stones may break my bones,
But words will never hurt me
That old saying is nothing but
an excuse for those who've felt the wrath of words

Words are things that scar you
Words are invisible bullets that pierce the soul
They are razor sharp knives that slice the pigment of your skin
Sometimes words are pronged, jagged blades that cut deeper than any blade could

Even if you didn't mean it, regretful for what you said
Words can cause harm, even death
Words can cause permanent damage
Words are suppose to bring people together

But to this day, words only break us up into pieces
Words from country to country start wars
The words from the lies of politicians
Words are dangerous
