As His Little Girl Grew Up
He headed to her room; he couldn't let it rest,
the burden of his little girl weighed heavy on his chest
She'd changed into some sweats,
he almost did forget, but couldn't
quite the memory of how she had been dressed
He sat down on her bed
"Hon, what's going through your head?"
"I'm sorry that you heard," she said
"I didn't know you were home," she quickly
glanced at the offending phone
"I would have hung up if I had known"
He looked at his little girl, the
frown upon her face, he quickly tightened
her in a loving embrace
"I've missed you so much," she
sank into his touch, he made
a vow to himself to be here for
her more, he'd show her that he
loved her and it wouldn't be a chore
Next time he saw her in that way, it wouldn't
shake him up, he'd watch with careful
eyes as his little girl grew up
