The Way You Smile
I love the way you smile,
when you’re holding in a secret
that we both know you will tell me soon enough.
I love the way you smile,
when you’re being as silly as you could possibly be.
Sometimes your smile is quirky,
with the right side of your lips curled in,
that quirky smile drives me insane
with the secrets it holds,
but I know those secrets will soon be told
to me, and me only.
Sometimes your smile is shy,
abashed after telling me a secret
that you’re not quite sure about how I will react.
But I never judge you,
those quiet secrets you whisper…
they just make me love you more.
Although I didn’t even know that was possible.
Sometimes your smile is playful,
inviting me to join in a joke
or a silly banter.
When you have this smile
I can’t help
but smile with you.
Sometimes,
and this is the rarest smile of all,
your smile is loving.
I don’t think I always notice this smile,
I think it it is just rare that I see it.
Your smile is soft, after we’ve shared a sweet moment.
And I always want to be the one it is directed at,
I don’t want you to smile like this at anyone else.
I want to be always be the one who causes you to smile like this.
