Powerless
Adults are so powerful
They can do anything they want
They're like mini gods and goddesses
They have all this power right in their hands
They can ruin people's lives
Crush teenagers' worlds
Devastate little babies
With just a phone call or a simple sentence
A small action
It's like they got the whole world in their hands
And they are not taking good care of it
Why are they given all this power?
Laws
21
As soon as you're 21, you become so powerful
But why does age make such a difference?
If I was legal, I would use my power
To make a difference
My mother tries to say she can't stop him
She tries to say it's not her fault and
She's just the messenger
But I believe she's
Partly responsible
She allowed it
She's an adult
What kind of mother allows her children to be abused
To be mistreated and hurt past healing
She was a great mother in all other aspects
But this can't be overlooked
Just as I hate him,
I will always blame you
You allow him to hurt me
You allow him to treat me this way
You don't stop his words, his actions
You don't stop him
You don't even try
You just stand there and sigh
Like it's out of your hands
When you have all the power
Given to you legally
You don't stand up for your children
I wouldn't let this happen to my kids
Even if I was scared, I would stand up for them
I would stop him from hurting them
I would kick him out
Or remove myself and my precious children from him
No way would I stand there and watch
Not while I have power
Not while I'm legal
Not when I'm 21
You never even tried to tell him stop
You never stood up for us
You let him hurt us
You let him hurt my little brother
You allowed him to
And so you might as well have been an accomplice
You could have told him stop
You could have kicked him out
You could have taken us away
You're an adult
You have choices, you have options
You have power
You've got the whole world in your hands
Figuratively
When I'm 21, I'll be free
When I'm legal, I will use my power
To make a difference
I will use my power to save those who have none
Children who are just waiting to be legal
To be free
Adults are so powerful
They are like mini gods and goddesses
It's like they've got the whole world
They can do anything they want
But they waste their power
They sit back and watch the powerless
Doing nothing with all the power they hold
Legally
Given to them at 21
