Hungry, But Happy
I asked my sister if she was happy
At eight, there could be a lot of stagnant sadness
On a Sunday afternoon
There could be a lot of questions about
Things over which we both have no control
Such as... daddies... disappearances
Or why the sky is blue
There could be a lot of chaos and confusion swirling
In an eight year-old's mind
So I asked her if she was happy
Little sister nods her head
"Yes," she says
"Hungry, but happy"
