The naivete of a child
She was blind to it all
She saw, but she did not perceive
His wickedness was hard to believe
She laughed with him
Talked with him
Until with a life-threatening jolt she realized
Exactly what he had done
She saw
With the likeness of a child, but the spirit of
An old, wise woman
She stood
Shedding her childish ways
The games she used to play
She knew
Of the ugliness and dirtiness he portrayed
She knows
There is complete understanding
She is no longer a child
The knowledge within her
The horrors she's faced
Now
She is a woman
When I stepped out of the dark room
I couldn't see
