I Wonder...
I wonder as I wander
Down the busy streets of Manhattan
The lights so bright it makes my head hurt and my eyes blink
I wonder
If my mother knows where I am
If she even cares
I wonder as I wander
Through a dark, crowded alleyway
Where the sweet smell of pot filters through the putrid air
I wonder
If I'll try drugs someday
If I'll ever get a high that isn't sugar
I wonder as I wander
Past rowhouses and lines of laundry swaying in the breeze
And guys so hot my skin burns with the intense heat
I wonder
If I'll ever get kissed
If I'll ever have sex
I wonder as I wander
Past scary oceans and starry nights
That moon turns full every 3 hours and the hair on the back of my neck is raised
I wonder
If God can see me
If He even cares
I wonder as I wander
To worlds unknown and places I've never been
Where I feel lost and alone and confused and scared
I wonder
If I'll ever find home
If there even is a home
