Waiting
She's waiting for him
Misses his incessant jabbering
What will she do when he returns?
Ice-cream and cake?
A song?
A hug?
She settles down as it becomes dark
The streetlights flick on
And still he has not come
Midnight
And still she is waiting
Days turn into weeks
Weeks into months
Months into years and
Years into forever
Her hair is long and white
She is 99.9 years old
And still she is waiting
