I live in two worlds
I live in two worlds
You would never know it
The reality seems pretty clear
But it never really is enough
Not even close
I'll eat, I'll work, I'll sleep
And your mind will connect the dots
The magic of object permanence
But there's a world you don't see
When I'm not with you
You'd never guess
I cover my tracks
The best detective cannot retrace
You can try
My steps lead to Jupiter
A land I discovered when I was very young
And went to every night
Every day I depart
Forget the people and the faces
The friends
Nothing's real in this world
And then I am gone
On the other side
In this place there is nothing
It's white and it's an echo
It's a place without words
A place without logic
A place where I'm not myself
Just a cloud floating on detachment
You cannot speak, you cannot think
You can only feel
And be felt
Where eyes say things that words can never explain
Where hands do things that you could never ask to have done
Where what we call liberty is put to shame
When words come out, they flatline
When there are noises, they paint the walls
You can taste my desire in the air
You can taste my sadness in the air
You can see the ghost of yearning
And in this world
You can cradle the desire in your hands
You can nurse the sadness back to health
You can whisper to the ghost that it'll all be okay
And without saying a word I hear:
"It'll all be okay,
the world is far, far away."
