Quiet
I am quiet
My voice is soft
I don’t talk much
And normally it’s only to answer a question
Judges don’t take me seriously when I debate
Opponents don’t take me seriously when I yell on the field
I am quiet
My voice is soft
I am like the ringing in your ears
After you hear a loud noise
Barely there
But most noticeable when it is gone
Because even though I am quiet
And easy to pass by
I am also one half of the debate team who was second seed at states
Out of 96 teams
This one quiet girl was able to beat 94 other teams
With voices who were bigger and louder
And the girl with a quiet voice is able to keep her cool
And is willing to sacrifice her body and time for the game she loves
Because I am quiet
And my voice is soft
But my mind is alive
And my heart is is big
And I make up for what I lack in power
With the emotion I put into my words
And I am quiet
And my voice is soft
And that’s okay
