Favorite Quote:
There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love - Washington Irving

Innocence
A blinding light
Surrounding laughter and joyous tone
It is the sound of feet pattering
The giggles and the crinkles that rest on the border of an eye

Golden ringlets with tinted edges
A smooth touch
A soft smile
A fragile tear

Innocence
The root of a tree
The stalks of plant
A soft glow in the midst of harsh darkness

I was able to capture it
Hold it tight in my palm for years
Embrace the softness
Gain a tender heart

Innocence
It is a gooey chocolate chip
The browned edges of a sugar cookie
The strength of the eyelid when you rise before the dawn

Having endless energy
Yet sound on the pillow in minutes
The gleam of a bicycle
And the joy in a container of crayons

Innocence
It is the pinkness of the cupids bow lips
The carelessness of dreams
The tears in a balloon released to the sky

Innocence will forever be planted in us
Although never showing it’s paled (once bright) surface
It can be covered by darkness
Cracked by trauma
Smudged by an act
But innocence will forever live
Within the soul of an adult
But innocence grants you
The soul of a child.

It started out as an English assignment, but turned into something that became nostalgic
