Seperated
One oak log as pure as can be
Yeah it has some cracks and moss, but that doesn't matter to me
Here comes the lumber jack
One deep breath and the axe goes over his shoulder and it's sliced on impact
They are thrown in the fire
Where a family watches them burn
The wood crackles and ignites
They smile
"Much better."
But in my endeavor I can't forget her
She was the roots to our tree
I was the branches that blew in the breeze
Giving way to the ever changing wind
Along with the leaves that soaked up all the sin
We carved our names in that white oak
So that everyone could laugh at what they called "A joke."
Then one day someone came with a shovel
He dug it in the ground and found something that was never to be seen
So he brought a man with the axe
And he started to chop
Swing after swing
He cut apart where their names used to be
Timber
We never counted the rings on the stump to see how old it was
Because we never thought this day would come
We weren't out dated
We weren't castrated
We weren't always frustrated
But now we're seperated
