Long Distance
Aren't you beautiful?
Everything about you,
Even your voice
Don't you see it?
Let me listen
While you tell me stories of building walls
Physical and mental
Tell me of the darkness of this world
And how you survived some of it
But are still fighting the rest
Speak of growing up with him
The only person you trusted
Until I came
Talk about running down hallways
And loving the world
Till you didn't
Say words of yesterday
Singing in the day
And finding hope in the darkness
I wish I could sit there and listen
But you're so far away
For now your stories are letters floating
On a light up screen
Leaving me to imagine
How you'd tell them
There is a boy that looks like you
And talks like you
I used to listen
As he told me stories of the darkness
And running
And loving
But he still isn't you

We were told to write a poem as if writing to someone and mention stories they have told us.
The person this is about is very important to me.
