Daughter
I woke up every morning
In a home
With food, water, shelter, and love.
I would walk outside
To my backyard
Where my precious mulberry tree stood.
I would go to school,
Over-joyed that I could learn and get golden stars,
But then the horror occurred.
From the chirps of peaceful protests
To soon violent roars,
A disastrous war broke out.
My family hid within
My backyard, underground
However, we soon had to flee.
We went through horrid conditions,
To get to the place
Where we are now.
There are very nice people,
They give us shelter, running water, and food,
Even simple commodities that I took for granted.
The Zaatari Refugee Camp has saved my life,
It has gotten my father a job,
It also gave me the hope that I could a new mulberry tree.
