As I was walking, down by a river,
the wind brushing up my skin made me shiver,
then I started to think,
and in just one blink,
it was yesterday all over again,
all my parents hard work and money fell into the drain,
it completely vanished and turned to dust,
the government had broke my trust,
But then I thought to myself,
Life sometimes gets a little dark,
but you gotta keep that spark,
shinning so bright,
cause we can't live without light,

My teacher had us do a project over the great depression we have to write down our orginal poems. I have combined my favorite quote I have written"Life sometimes gets a little dark---" with part of the lyrics from a song I have written and new words to make this poem. It's a poem about a young teenager who watches their parent struggle when they little money to spare. They felt lost without money. However, they hold on that little spark of hope.
