Your breath on my shoulder chills me to the core,
I’m alone the warmth is gone,
you pelt me with it all rain, sleet, snow,
you hit me with everything,
my tracks vanish.
I’m on a lone country road,
I must choose my path.
What is forward, what moves me back?
I hold myself tighter,
your icy claws try to capture me,
they will never put my light out.
The last rays slip beneath the horizon,
where has the warmth gone?
Your tender embrace, the rustle of laughter,
the warmth of your breath on my skin.
Icicles form on my fragile face,
my skin’s gone pale, my face has thinned.
The storm falls harder,
I will escape, you won’t sink me.
With my last breath I reach for the light,
I will find the warmth in you again.
