Drifting
Besides my heart, I hear the ocean crying
I hear the waves thumping in my ear,
But it doesn’t come close,
To the constant beating in my chest.
Breathlessly, panting and panting,
The only thing in my line of vision
Is the distant and blurry bay.
I feel my sister’s sharp nails cling to my back,
As if her life was on the line
And it is,
Because we’re caught in the angry waves of the sea.
All I taste is the salt in the water,
As well as in the misty air.
I see the sliver of sand on the shoreline,
As we slowly start our way, over the endless sea.
