Classroom Correspondence
I do not understand
Why you assign so much work
Towers of paper nonchalantly given
Like handing out candy to children
And most of all I do not understand
Why teachers wield so much power
The classroom their domain
The flick of the pen
Changing the fate for years to come
What I understand most
Is that even though I may dislike school
Dislike the tests set on the desks
Dislike getting dragged out of bed to listen to teachers drone
I do prefer for you to open that door
Of education to light the path of my life
I do not understand
Why students gripe so much
Especially when times could be worse
On the other side of the world
And most of all I do not understand
Why they let their time in school
The time that is their life
Fall to waste as it slips through their fingers
Few attempts to glean knowledge
What I understand most
Is that I will give them the tools
And on their own they will have to apply
Hoping that one fateful day
The water of comprehension will seep
Into their garden minds
That my efforts were for them
And the most must be made of them for flowers to bloom
