Tattoos Among Us
Your body’s a temple so paint the walls:
People do it for loved ones,
Showing what they loved in life
And some just had a little too much to drink last night
But the main reason why people do it is
To cover up the battle field that is their life.
All those scars that caused them pain, doing it to
Release energy, to cover up a childhood bad
Mistake
Like climbing up that tree when you knew you weren’t
Supposed to
Yeah, I have a few of those scars and wanting to cover them up
But would I ever do it? Now that’s the real question
Knowing I am made up of these scars
All the scars from skating too fast and listening to
My older sister when I shouldn’t have
Driving the four wheeler a little too fast, turning on that
Bike a little too hard.
That’s my childhood told on my elbows and knees.
