I'm always here
I'm always here,
though you can't see me,
I am here.
I was there,
when you took your first steps.
The pride I felt when you did and
the gleam in your eyes as you walk towards me,
your Daddy.
I was there,
holding your mother as she cried
for the fact that I had to leave.
You were there,
and you watched me with tear filled eyes,
holding your mother's hand so tight,
as I boarded the plane.
Your mother was there,
recieving the very last phone call from me.
Though she didn't know it,
my time was almost over on the face of this Earth.
My friend was there,
he watched as I was shot down by the enemy.
He screamed my name,
grabbed my arm,
and dragged me out of the line of fire.
I was there,
and I felt the bullet tear through my heart,
though I tried with all my might to hang on,
I just couldn't.
So with one final breath,
I died while thinking about you.
And now here I am,
wandering this world alone,
with my rifle in my hand,
I'm trying to find my way home.
I finally arrived.
Arrived at the very house I lived in,
only to find,
your mother in her bedroom weeping,
with you by her side.
I know you can't hear me,
and I know you can't see me,
but I want you to know,
that on that day,
I spread my wings around you two,
just to wipe away the pain I left behind.
And if you ever are in need of me,
all you have to do is call my name,
and I will always be there for you.
My precious, baby girl.
