Don't Play With Fire
You whispered words that burst into flames within me
and you promised that I was the only one who could make you produce such heat.
How is it that the red-hot lies from your lips hurt less than the truth?
You told me that you wanted me as much as I wanted you, an
d you sparked a feeling inside of me that I can’t rid of; I
don’t think you ever felt this way for me because I don’t see a trace of fire licking at your heart.
Why is it that I long for the past while you try to burn it from your memory?
Yo
u held my hand while the hot coals within you melted my existence
and you left me to disappear into a mess of ashes, and then you walked away.
Why didn’t I listen when they told me not to play with fire?
