The Forest
I sprint
Through the wood
Aged branches
And youthful roots
Are nothing under my feet
Shhhhhh
The water and rocks
Create a chorus near to me
Green leaves
Whisper with the wind
Singing songs with my soul
Summoning me to the depths
Of the forest
Moss flourishes
On rocks and decayed logs
I slow to catch my breath
And catch the beauty of the forest
The ensemble is alluring
With the dazzling sounds,
Soprano birds tweet
Singsong melodies
As the bass bullfrogs
Harmoniously join
As a bird to his nest,
Or a fox to his den,
I feel truly at home
In the woods.
