Of Nobles and Kings
Pines grow with outstretched needles
Breathing alpine air of fresh sweetness
Up, away, they go!
Faithful subjects spreading forth,
through valley and up foothill
under the white, watchful eyes
of nobles and Kings.
Oh, how these majesties stand!
Seemingly unmoving,
unchanging through the ages.
Reaching for the waning light,
orange, yellow, pink.
In moving water, their doubles,
wavering, dancing, shifting in the flow.
The water tells the truth.
Not even kings,
last forever.
