Our Side
I've been Waking up at the same Time for the past two years of my life-
My Health has Progressively gotten worse-
My Sight has become like one big Optical Allusion Of life-
I hear the Morning Bell and know it's time for cell searches-
I've been Waking up at the same Time for the past thirteen years of my life-
My Health is not Consistent-
My Sight is Slowed due to lack of sleep-
I hear my Alarm Clock and know It's time to put my status first Instead of my health-
I am Ushered into slow moving Lines due to the overcrowding of people-
I Arrive Late and leave with more scars to add to my collection-
I am forced to do hard Physical Labor for extended periods of time throughout my days-
My Hours will consist of this from Here on out-
It's like my Life is put on a daily Repeat setting-
I am Ushered into slow moving Hallways due to the overcrowding of people-
I Arrive Late and I am scolded at for not meeting high expectations-
I am forced to Sit for extended periods of time through things that hold no meaning to me-
I am then lead to The next room in which I will do the same Thing-
It's like my Day is put on an hourly Repeat setting-
I hear the bell and know it's time for me to move into the next Job-
I get to the Job and see only people that I Dislike-
Some Men start fighting and I know immediately that we are all Going to get lectured about it-
The Warden walks in and we all immediately become Quite-
I hear the bell and know it's time for Me to Move into the next Classroom-
I arrive at the classroom only to find people I am merely Acquainted with-
Two of my Classmates start a brawl over a little thing that won't matter in ten years-
The Dean walks in and all goes Still-
I made my way to the Aged cafeteria-
I stayed in line until while my legs Ached-
As I make my way to the front I gaze over the Bland food-
I hold out my tray to Receive my "healthy meal" that includes circular mashed potatoes with a side of something unknown-
Mentally exhausted I trudge my way to the Rowdy cafeteria-
I waited in line attempting to hide my hunger Pangs-
As I go to the front of the line I was able to choose between Unnatural looking, hormone filled hotdogs or pesticide filled apples-
As I make my decision about lunch, I decide that I am better off eating Nothing than filling my body with deadly chemicals.
After our limited lunch, we are hustled to our next job-
I arrive to the sight and am once again filled with complete dread with the task I have been assigned-
And once again see only those I abhor-
I pick up my tools and get to work hoping the time will pass by-
After my confined lunch, we trek to the next set of classes-
I arrive to the room and once again am filled with the feeling of hopelessness-
And once again see none of my friends-
I pick up my pencil and paper hoping the time will pass by-
After a long day of work I am Finally as Free as free gets in prison-
I Head to the common area for social time-
As I walk through the Courtyard I greet all the guards with a courteous "Hello" out of forced respect-
When I Reach the common area I first must check the jobs posted for tomorrow-
After a long day of school I am Finally Free-
I Head to my bus for the long ride home-
As I walk through Campus I greet all the staff with a hardy "Hello" out of forced respect-
When I Sit down on the bus I shudder from the cold but I take advantage of the rare time I am able to sleep-
After free time ends, I Make the long walk to my cell-
When I Reach my destination we are given the approximate time estimate until lights out-
We are told we can do Anything within the very defined set of rules (which is essentially nothing)-
And Without Warning they shut the power off and we go to bed-
After I get off the bus, I Walk the rest of the way home-
Once I Get home I start right away on homework, otherwise I will be up until I have to leave again-
Teachers tell us they Only give two hours of homework a night, but with all the classes combined how do I manage?
And Without Warning its morning again and I'm up for round two.
