You Are Alone
You are alone
You were born alone,
Screaming, eyes squeezed shut
Afraid to look at a world that would let you be
Alone
You were always alone
As a child, you played alone
You made friends from the mud on the playground corners
You wrote of a world where no one would ever be
Alone
You called it Pandora, a fantasy tucked deep in the woods
Under the doorway of two silver trees
You dreamed, that instead of abuse on your unhinged mind and weeping eyes
You were alone
You awake alone
Long legs tangled in sheets, cold and empty
Pulling a pillow to your chest and crying into its fabric
You fall asleep alone
No one to comfort or being comforted by
Collapsing in bed, feeling heavy from yet another day
You are alone
You are alone
I am alone
