Thin, pale strokes of cloudy gray branches
Against a backdrop of ivory winter.
Delicate, frail, swaying in the wind
And yet new buds begin to
Blossom.
Through fall's chill and
Winter's icy will,
The roots drink the ground
Like a draught of whiskey,
Giving life and warmth to the
Sun-kissed blooms.
