I know why the caged bird sings
I know why the caged bird sings
To fly away is a dream
let me dream, let me fly
let me fly into to the dark, I don't want to see this cage holding me back
I just want to leave, why can't I be free
caged like a bird, my wings are tramped my soul is captured
I can't breathe in this prison
sunlight deprived
by the time I'm free my wings will be limp and my heart forever sore
flimsy wings can't bend steel bars
flimsy wings can't take me far
flimsy wings can't soar the skies
flimsy wings can't fix this broken heart
