Luna's Descent
She flows like water,
Walks like rain in July.
Maybe that can explain why she built floodgates in her eyes
A long time ago.
When her love watered the ground beneath her feet
And her eyes rivalled the sun.
When angels sprinkled kisses
On her cheeks and nose,
Peach cheeks straining cinnamon
Under kaleidoscope eyes.
A time when her feather-soft skin
Glowed as if she had swallowed the moon
Eyes that held constellations
Through the nights
Where the darkness could be felt
Not just seen.
But sometimes even the moon dims and hides.
Afraid
To shine on a world
That swallows everything it can get.
So she allowed herself to blend seamlessly
Into a sea of oblivion
Another wisp of cloud in nondescript blue.
And she waited
For another naive soul
To throw itself into the sky.
