Jumping on Couches, Jubilant Picture Books, and My Jet Black Truck

I am from playing with old beaten up Spider Man action figures, ignoring my vexing ringing  clock, and chasing my little baby brother.
I am from my dad taking me to his workplace every week because I wanted to see what he did.
I am from my large backyard and spending hours upon hours running around playing tag and hide and seek.

I am from playing exhilarating tag with my brother, playing lively soccer matches, and  watching soccer and football on TV with my dad.
I am from an old jet black truck that I tinkered with for hours on end.
I am from vibrant coloring books my parents and I did together.

I am from endless road trips with my family.
From my dad’s rusty old Dodge Durango™ driving us north every summer.
Michigan welcomes me with a warm embrace because it’s where I’m from.

I am from scrumptious turkey on Thanksgiving Day, delicious homemade food from my mom,  and lots of delicious pie on Christmas.
I am from my tiny striped sweaters I wore every day when it was cold.
I am from savory exquisite pumpkin pie my whole family would feast upon every Thanksgiving.

I am from relaxing all day watching television on my old amber brown couch, which my family has had for years.
From Auntie baking me her special cookies whenever I came to visit her in Virginia.
Virginia warms my heart because I have so many relatives there.

I am from reading jubilant picture books, watching entertaining baby learning videos on the TV,  and wearing the same oyster white sneakers everywhere I went.
I am from playing interactive computer games as a kid and becoming angry when I couldn’t solve the questions.
I am from a loving family that raised me and taught me well.

Life is like a rollercoaster, it has lots of turns and bumps but they’re worth it because they make you stronger.
