Letters
I am going to write you a love letter
About crystal hearts
And sailing ships at sea
But I will never send it
I will tuck it away in my soul
Hide it from the tiniest light
Burn it in a fire’s mouth
And scatter it across the sky;
Where imagination rules the galaxy
I do not want you,
My love,
To read the words that flow from my lips
To uncover my closeted passions
And to undress my cloudy thoughts
With a smirk
I’m going to write you a love song
About city lights
And seashells at the seashore
But I will never sing it
I will bury it in my thorny rose garden
Rip it with my tiny hands
Drown it in a glassy brook
And cover it with my forgotten memories;
That lives in elapsed darkness
I do not want you,
My love,
To listen to the lyrics that dance from my lips
To discover my unfinished business
And to gouge on the complements I shower you amid
With a dimpled smile
I’m going to write you a love poem
About breathless space
And daunting deserted dreams
But I will never read it
I will lock it in my heart
Swallow the key
Fasten it to the tallest tree
And lay in to rest in the soggy earth of the graveyard;
The very one you sleep in
I do not want you,
My love,
To read my bloodstained rants consumed in my misery
To find my tears stained against my ticking beliefs
And to understand how much I miss you
And our scared shattered love
