The Bird Who Flies Alone
I am the bird in the sky with no place to nest
I fly and flutter my wings
Against a sky painted gray
And I land alone.
I see all the others soar past me
Together they migrate in troves
With squawking and singing and chirping and tweeting
And I sit and watch them alone.
So I jump and try to soar with them
But I find I’m often forgotten
Or left somewhere far behind
I am the bird who flies alone.
