Unspoken
These words inside are falling down my head.
Dropping to a silence on the ground.
I can't remember what to say instead
only it hurts when they are found.
You look at me and smile
though these words will make you frown.
The silence starts to pile
and I know I've let you down.
Unspoken words, unshead, unborn,
never to be seen.
They cut a wound much deeper
than what was said to me.
And it swallows: this silence,
every word we've shared.
Because the sea of burning emptiness
hurts more than we've prepared.
