Mixtapes
I sat there listening to words I wish you had spoken.
Words roaming along melodies.
I used to think they meant the world.
I could hand them in
and they would be worth more than the most expensive car
or anything in my bank account but nowadays,
I don’t see what they are worth.
They have gone to rubbish with all the other lost things in life.
Sitting here listening to songs I thought I liked was a bad idea.
I was stuck thinking about you,
dreaming about you,
missing you.
This wasn’t fun.
I know you listen to these songs
but what do they mean to you?
Do they remind you of things once was?
Or do you sit there with not even a hint of nostalgia.
I guess I’ll never know.
