Arabel
The look you always wear in lieu of a smile is one of some small terror.
And I can’t know, because I’m not you,
But I imagine that you’re afraid you aren’t pretty
Of being plain,
So you’re the sort of girl who wakes up
Far too early
To spend that daily hour to look
Just so.
You are your own harshest critic,
And when you look at yourself,
What you see just isn’t good enough
For you.
You are plain
Because you believe you are.
But
Did you know?
In rare fleeting moments that you forget to be plain,
You smile,
And when you wear that most simple make-up
You aren’t plain.
Not at all
You are beautiful.
