Poem One:

I suppose it’s like the ticking crocodile:
peeking out of the water,
looking at you,
waiting-
until your time is up.

Dressed in red,
peeking behind the door,
everyone looking at you,
waiting-
until you take your steps
into a new life of adulthood.

This is your time to shine
on a stage
for a moment.

And it’s almost like-
I swear- almost like
walking into your kindergarten class
all over again.

Poem Two:

Write about anything:

Like the way you hate-
absolutely hate-
the way your thighs touch;
inseparable really
as if they were connected
by some force of evil,
destined to encourage you to hate-
absolutely hate-
yourself.

Like the way you love-
absolutely love-
the way your thighs touch;
inseparable really
as if they were the best of friends
since the very beginning,
destined to encourage you to love-
absolutely love-
yourself.

Poem Three:

And you want to shatter those dreams?

You stare- stuck in the moment-
into those bright blue eyes
asking you if he is smart.

He could grow into a doctor
and cure the world of hatred.

He could grow into a lawyer
and rid the world of lies.

So you stare- stuck in the moment-
into those bright blue eyes
asking you if he is smart.

His entire life waits
on your answer;
and you want to shatter those dreams?
