Nothing is impossible. The word itself says I'm possible. - Audrey Hepburn

They tell you it's ok to be yourself,to be free and enjoy life

But at the same time they stand there critisizing you and what you do

As if your every move could end the world

Being yourself is not ok...that's what they really mean

They want to control you, don't step out of line or there'll be consequences

One wrong move and you're immediately a bad kid, they shun you without so much as a second look

You can be yourself...within the boundaries which are set

You have to look, act, and speak a certain way

Just like puppets

Controlled like little strings suspeneded into thin air

I wrote this piece explaining what's so messed up about the society we all live in now. We get told to be ourselves, but as we grow up we all get shunned and critisized for being who we are. In reality we are all puppets. Controlled by invisble strings. Strings that are really voices. Voices controll us. That's kind of pathetic. We shouldn't have to be what they tell us to be. I'm not saying go out and be crazy, but just be yourself in a reasonable way. Nobody should controll you but yourself. Stand up for who you are. No matter the consequences life throws at you.
