Lows and Highs
Sinking lower and lower;
The burn won't help you out.
It can only disguise the pain
'Til you don't recognize it yourself.
All of us have problems:
Drugs, promiscuity
Alcohol, daddy issues.
Each and every one.
All skeletons in the closet
We are so afraid to air.
What others may think of
Our faults, we just can't bear!
But if just one,
Just one brave person
Were to step out, saying,
"It is okay to not be okay."
How many lives would shift,
Be saved?
How many people would it help
Avoid going deeper?
We all need to face our issues:
You, me, and them.
Lying underneath, we all can find
A tarnished, but unmistakable, gem.
But without one person's courage
To stand up for what is right,
That gem may never show,
Never see the light.
So I implore you,
Dig up your skeletons!
Seek out help!
Find others who have felt the same.
For when we reach out,
That is how we fix things
And we all stay floating,
Truly alive, in life's game.
