What I was dying for
It is common to say I am dying to get this over with,
but you aren't,
you only die inside for the best things,
You were dying when you hit your first home run,
you were dying when you opened you first locker in middle school,
You were dying when you first walked into high school,
You were dying when you had your first kiss, and you felt all bubbly inside,
you were dying when you walked outside under lights on prom night,
you were dying when you got accepted into college,
you were dying when your parents helped you pack for the first long time you would spend without them,
You died when you looked into the eyes of the person you would love for the rest of your life, and you knew,
you were dying when you finnished college and you were handed your degree,
you died when you said yes to the big proposal,
you were dying of laughter when your dad saw the price of the white dress,
You died when you first touched the little hand of the one you would watch grow up,
you died when the one you love threw a surprise party for your retirement,
you were dying when you decided to to sell your house and travel,
you died when you saw your big one touch their hand to their little one's hand like you once did,
before you die, someone says,
I spent my life dying to finnish things, and I forgot to live,
and you turn and say "the times when you know you are really dying, are the ones that seem to strech on the longest, because you'll never feel more alive."
Then you die, looking into the eyes of the ones you love most.
