&quot;Make it hurt now so it won&#039;t later&quot;<br /> -Jim Rice

It’s been a long day and now you’re driving home.
It’s rather warm today, and sitting in your car stuck in traffic
isn’t what you had in mind for your Thursday afternoon
(after all, Thursday is laundry day at your place).
On a somewhat menacing term, you come to the conclusion
that you are no longer in control of the situation.
You’re waiting for Jesus to take the wheel, regardless of
whether or not a different angel will be there should something go wrong.
The music is blasting, and you can’t seem to remember
the last time that you heard a buzzing coming from outside
(after all, you work close to an airport, don’t you?).
You start looking for things to do – cars to stare at, or people to watch.
You’re looking for a club or bar or pub to hit on your way home.
It all seems so erroneous, but you can’t seem to move on
past your isolated little life in your excuse for a car.
It’s so easy to forget what’s going on around you, isn’t it?

I’m warning you now that although it may not seem like it, this poem is very sad.
