thoughts
11 pm
i hear him whisper goodbye,
while i feign sleep
he leaves to catch his plane
for a place across the ocean
and time and again
this loneliness creeps upon me
and consumes me whole.
3 am
wrapped in a duvet,
sleep still nestled
in the corners of my eyes,
i stare numbly out the window
at the stars that are
light years away.
i am alone.
5 pm
"hey dad, where are you?"
"dad please call back soon,"
the display says no missed calls,
the sound of a monotonous
dial tone rings in the empty air,
i have stopped calling.
