To Call You Friend
I never knew you
We may have not intervened with each other
Discussing the tough roads of life
Sure, we never spoke about our life stories,
and did not laugh until we cried
We did not stupidly believe that money was our failure to popularity,
and we never cried together,
and with the defined meaning that we never knew each other
but we managed to sculpt ourselves from society,
and praying in the cathedrals built out of love and blood
We never traveled together and took the high road in life
But, while celebrating our journeys in life
I wish we would have, but seldom were my dreams
That you were even out there
I did and do not know you
We never felt the inconsistent waves of our well beings
The way friends often do
We never laid the burdens of anger upon each others crosses
Hoping that we could take care of one another
I did not know you
We never dreamt together about a better youth
Hoping for a new way of life
Never did we trade stories
Like boys do football cards
Because we were playing our own game
We never danced to endless amounts of music
Or ran away to random towns,
but seldom were the times I took a pause to think about you
Only if I had known you
Until now I only have the slight idea
That you breathed the air I do
The fact we never crossed paths
Makes me want to know more about you
Once or twice did I think
How lost I must have been
To never have known you
To never call you a friend
So please do so
Excuse me for my ignorance
Excuse me for the fact that I didn't know you exist
Sleep now, dear spirit,
knowing now upon your death
I would ave enjoyed your ever- lasting company,
and to have called you a friend
